I wrapped up 25 christmas books individually and put them under our Christmas tree.
Each night since December 1st, Madden has been choosing one book to unwrap and read before bedtime.
The 25th book he opens on Christmas morning will be about the birth of the Savior.
We will read it together as a family before we open presents or see what Santa brought.
That way we can remember the reason for the season.
And hopefully Madden will pick up on the fact that Christmas is not just about elves and reindeer and Santa bringing lots of toys.
Cuz right now I'm pretty sure thats what he thinks.
I knew the $100's of dollars I spent on children's books to build my kindergarten classroom library would come in handy with my own children someday...

I'm so stealing this idea!!!!
The best tradition! :)
I love this! I wish someone did this for me. Hahaha. Not that I have time for reading these days...
Madden's a lucky boy because he has such a wonderful Mom!
That's a good idea! I need to do something like this with Cash since the other night we were reading the children's Book of Mormon and he pointed at Nephi and said "SANTA!" I'm a failure.
LOVE IT!
