date night with Madden

* December 30, 2014 *

When I was little, my mom used to take each of her kids out on what she called "special days" every once in a while.
She would let us choose the outing, the place we wanted to eat, the treat we wanted, etc.
It was just special one-on-one time between mom and kid where we didn't have to share her with our 4 other siblings.
And even though Madden only has to share me with 1 sibling, sometimes I find the baby dictating a lot of what we can do or can't do these days.
"We have to go, cuz Beckett needs a nap"
"Beckett's getting fussy so we can't stay for very long"
"Beckett needs to eat so we need to hurry and get home"
A lot of our fun outings are cut short because of the baby and the baby's schedule.
So while Madden was on winter break from school, I decided to take advantage and spend some quality time with him.
We left the baby at home with Dad and went out on a "date."

He chose:
Target, where we looked at pokemon cards and he picked out a new pokemon card album
Kona Grill, where we sat by the fish tank while we ate dinner and Madden learned how to use chop-sticks for the first time
The Lego Store, where we built towers with legos for as long as we wanted without being interrupted by a fussy baby
and
Dairy Queen, where we both got an ice cream cone for dessert

It was a perfect "date."
