Madden had 2 weeks off of school for Spring Break this year, and being in the middle of our kitchen remodel was making it a little tricky to do much.
He's been so understanding while I've drug him along with me on countless Home Depot runs and been very patient on days when we've had to sit at home all day, waiting for different contractors to come by and work on the kitchen.
Normally, I have a fun activity planned for every single damn day of spring break, but that just wasn't gonna happen this time around.
So Randy and I decided to surprise the boys at the last minute and take them to Sea World for the weekend.
They'd never been and we had been wanting to take them so it seemed like the perfect Spring Break getaway!
So on Friday, over lunch with dad, we broke the exciting news to them and then packed up the car and headed over to San Diego!
We checked into the Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa and then the next morning we spent the day at Sea World...
After snapping a few obligatory pics at the entrance, we saw lots animals...
went on lots of rides...
watched lots of animal shows...
And of course, the main attraction was the killer whales...
Beck was a little unsure.
when the whales got too close, he kept pushing off the glass and saying "no!"
I think he was a little scared.
But Madden was loving it!
And Beck was such a trooper!
Spending the entire day in a theme park with a bunch of rides he can't go on and no naps is a bit much for this 2 year old.
But we made up for it by treating ourselves to a churro every time Dad and Madden went on a ride we couldn't go on.
Needless to say, we ate a lot of churros.
And on our way out of the park, the boys each picked out a souvenir to remember the trip...
It was a pretty magical day with my three favorite boys...
The next morning, we spent a little time relaxing at our resort...we went for a walk, played on the beach and went swimming at the pool before loading up the car and heading home.
Impromptu spring break trips are the best kind.
