show & tell

For weeks now, Madden has been DYING to be the show & tell kid at his preschool.
Every day he asks me if it its his turn yet.
So when he finally got to bring home the show & tell bag on wednesday after school, it was like the highlight of his preschool year.
I laughed out loud when I picked him up from school and he came flying out of the front door of his preschool, pushing past all the other kids, waving the bag in the air and yelling, "I GOT IT, MOM!  I GOT IT!"
As soon as we got home we talked about what he should bring for show & tell.
I tried to convince him to bring something unique with a cool story to tell, like the fowl ball his dad caught for him at a Cubs game or the ultrasound pictures of his new baby sibling on the way.
But all he wanted to bring was this damn disney die-cast car from the movie Cars that his grandma just bought for him over the weekend.
And he was so freaking excited about it, that I had to let him.
Cuz whatev.

Today was the big day.
He woke up at 6:30 am (much to my dismay)
ate breakfast
got himself dressed
put on his shoes
put on his backpack
put his show & tell bag over his shoulder
And then asked me if it was time to go yet.

It was 7:10.
His preschool starts at noon.
Needless to say, this made for an extremely long morning.
He refused to take off his shoes or his backpack or his show & tell bag.
He just walked around the house like that all morning and watched cartoons like that and asked me about every 15 minutes (no exaggeration) if it was time to go yet.
It was the longest morning of both our lives.
And I'm glad its over.

You'd be lucky if he was ALWAYS this excited to go to school - but alas, it's not likely to last the whole distance.
