chicago blizzard '11

Picture of Lake Shore Drive where hundreds of people abandoned their cars overnight during the blizzard and had to be rescued on snowmobiles.

Madden looking out our back sliding glass door this morning, where the snow drift towered well over the top of our porch railing.

Our dumpster is behind that fence. Almost completely buried in snow. You can see a path cut through the snow, it looks like someone tried to make a trip out there to take the trash out but didn't make it and turned around when the powder got chest deep.

the picture on the right is our garage door, covered about half-way up with snow.

words used by the Today Show to describe the Chicago blizzard of '11:
"extraordinarily rare"
"paralyzing"
"worst in decades"
"devastating"
"third-worst storm in Chicago's history"
"40-70 mph wind gusts"
"20.2 inches of snow by 10:30 am, with more snow still falling"
"snow drifts of up to 8 feet"

words used by Randy and myself to describe what we saw out our windows this morning:
"WHAT THE...!?"
"HOLY SH@#!!"

words used by Madden to describe what he saw out our windows this morning:
"Snowmans!! Snowmans!! Snowmans!!"
"uh-ohhhh...."

Oh my gosh! Those pictures are crazy! I kind of know how you feel. Last year Virginia had like its worst storm ever and we barely made it home safely and then were trapped for a couple days! It's crazy!
